Riddle, Eh? is a free-to-play, real-world riddle and scavenger hunt game designed to encourage people to get active, explore public places, learn about Canadian history, and have fun.
By creating an account, joining a game, submitting an answer, or participating in Riddle, Eh?, players agree to the following rules, terms, and safety requirements.
Riddle, Eh? is free to play.
Players are not required to pay any fee, purchase any product, enter any business, buy any item, make any donation, or provide anything of monetary value in order to create an account, receive riddles, solve riddles, submit answers, or be eligible to win prizes.
No special tools, equipment, paid access, memberships, or subscriptions are required to participate.
All riddles, clues, and answers are designed to be solved from lawful public access areas.
Players must never enter private property, restricted areas, construction zones, closed areas, fenced-off areas, employee-only areas, unsafe locations, private businesses, private establishments, or any location where public access is not clearly permitted.
No clue or answer requires a player to trespass, bypass barriers, ignore posted signs, enter a business, speak with staff, purchase anything, move objects, or access any non-public area.
If a location appears unsafe, closed, restricted, unclear, or not publicly accessible, players must leave the area and report the concern to Riddle, Eh? coordinators.
Players must not deface, damage, move, alter, remove, climb on, open, disturb, block, mark, attach anything to, or otherwise interfere with any public property, private property, monument, plaque, sign, building, structure, landscaping, fixture, natural feature, or public space.
Riddle, Eh? does not require players to physically interact with, move, modify, or disturb anything in order to solve a clue or answer a question.
Players are expected to respect all public spaces, historical sites, memorials, parks, sidewalks, roads, buildings, and community areas.
Participation in Riddle, Eh? is voluntary.
Players participate at their own risk, on their own time, and are responsible for their own safety, transportation, conduct, decisions, and surroundings.
Players are responsible for obeying all applicable laws, traffic rules, posted signs, site hours, public safety notices, weather advisories, and instructions from lawful authorities.
Players should not use the website, read clues, submit answers, or interact with their device while driving, cycling, crossing roads, or doing anything that requires their full attention.
Riddle, Eh? is not responsible for injuries, accidents, losses, property damage, travel costs, parking costs, tickets, fines, delays, missed opportunities, or other consequences that may occur while participating.
Riddle, Eh? is intended to be playable by all ages.
Players under the age of majority should participate with permission from a parent or legal guardian and should be accompanied or supervised by a responsible adult when visiting real-world locations.
Parents and guardians are responsible for deciding whether participation is appropriate for a minor and for supervising that minor’s participation.
Winners are determined based on the total number of riddles correctly solved during the game, including the final riddle where applicable.
If two or more players solve the same number of riddles, tie-breakers will be determined by overall solve time, based on the official time recorded by the Riddle, Eh? system.
Riddle, Eh? may review submissions, timestamps, account activity, and other game records to confirm results and ensure fair play.
All decisions regarding scoring, eligibility, tie-breakers, disqualifications, and winners are final.
Only players with a verified Riddle, Eh? account may qualify for or collect prizes. To collect any prize, a winner must produce valid government-issued photo identification that matches the name on their Riddle, Eh? account. This is a mandatory requirement and applies in addition to any other requirements imposed by law or by the prize sponsor. A winner who cannot produce identification matching the name on their account is not eligible to collect the prize.
Players must use Riddle, Eh? only as intended.
Any attempt to cheat, manipulate scoring, bypass location or account controls, exploit bugs, use automated tools, interfere with the website or application, attack the system, access another player’s account, submit false information, create abusive duplicate accounts, circumvent security features, or use the software in an unintended way may result in immediate disqualification from the current game.
Riddle, Eh? may suspend or remove accounts that appear to be fraudulent, abusive, unsafe, or in violation of these rules.
Riddle, Eh? collects player information only for account creation, game coordination, player communication, security, prize administration, abuse prevention, and general usability of the game.
Information collected may include details such as player name, email address, phone number, account activity, submissions, timestamps, and related game records.
Riddle, Eh? does not sell, rent, trade, or provide player information to advertisers, sponsors, unrelated businesses, corporations, organizations, or individuals for marketing purposes.
Player information is used only for the operation, security, coordination, and administration of Riddle, Eh?, except where disclosure is required by law, necessary to protect the integrity of the game, necessary to investigate misuse, or necessary to operate the service through trusted technical providers such as hosting, email, security, or application infrastructure providers.
Riddle, Eh? takes reasonable steps to protect player information, including secure storage and encryption where appropriate.
At the official end of the game, players may request that their account and personal information be securely removed from the system, subject to any legal, security, dispute-resolution, fraud-prevention, or recordkeeping requirements that may apply.
Sponsors may support Riddle, Eh? by providing prizes, funding, services, or promotional support.
Sponsors do not control the riddles, answers, scoring, winner selection, player data, or game results unless clearly stated otherwise in official game materials.
No sponsor may require players to make a purchase, enter private property, enter a business, provide payment, or complete a transaction in order to solve a riddle or remain eligible to play.
Prizes for Riddle, Eh? games will be posted through official game materials, the website, the application, or other official communication channels.
Riddle, Eh? reserves the right to make changes to prizes at any time, including adding, removing, substituting, or modifying prizes during the course of gameplay.
Any prizes provided by sponsors will be clearly identified as sponsor-provided prizes, and the sponsor providing the prize will be clearly indicated.
Riddle, Eh? may correct errors, clarify riddles, adjust rules, remove unsafe clues, cancel locations, change prize details, suspend play, or modify the game if needed to protect safety, fairness, security, or the integrity of the game.
If a clue, location, answer, prize, rule, or technical feature is found to be unsafe, inaccurate, unavailable, compromised, unfair, or otherwise unsuitable, Riddle, Eh? may make reasonable changes at its discretion.
This disclaimer and these game rules may be updated at the discretion of Riddle, Eh? coordinators. However, Riddle, Eh? will make reasonable efforts to inform all active players of material updates before those updates take effect.
Notice of updates may be provided through the Riddle, Eh? application, website notice, email, phone call, text message, or any combination of these methods, depending on the nature and importance of the update.
Continued participation in Riddle, Eh? after notice of an update confirms acceptance of the updated disclaimer and game rules.
By creating an account, joining a game, submitting an answer, or participating in Riddle, Eh?, players confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to follow these rules.
